Abstract

Identity management is central to security, privacy, and usability in cloud computing. As cloud environments grow more complex—particularly multi-domain settings where users access resources across federated providers—identity management must evolve beyond simple authentication into a dynamic capability that reflects the changing nature of user and resource identities. This paper introduces the concept of adaptive identity intelligence, an approach that enables identity systems to evolve and respond to identity needs across domains.

Adaptive identity intelligence rests on three architectural pillars: (1) an identity data fabric that spans domains and supports the evolution of user identity information during cross-domain access; (2) federated identity support for geographically distributed resources; and (3) context-aware authentication, which dynamically adjusts verification requirements based on the state of specific identity characteristics.

Together, these components improve both usability and security in multi-domain cloud environments. This work presents an early proof of concept for the model and its data fabric characteristics, and identifies opportunities for extending the framework toward forensic capabilities.
