Abstract

The Event-Driven Financial Integrity framework offers a controlled approach to managing the risks of processing, transporting, and storing sensitive and controlled data in the cloud. It operates across two domains: Real-Time Sanctions Intelligence, which addresses real-world financial integrity challenges, and Governed Cloud Risk Operations, which manages the risks associated with handling sensitive and controlled data in cloud environments. A purpose-built platform orchestrates these domains, embedding controls for sensitive data while integrating and automating sanctions intelligence processes.

Cloud risk management is typically delivered as part of a service provider's offering. However, the enterprise remains responsible for ensuring that appropriate risk controls are in place and that the right cloud service is selected for sensitive and controlled data—even within an event-driven model. When the enterprise does not directly control sensitive and controlled data, event-driven risk management requires it to ensure effective controls exist at both the sender and receiver of that data. The absence of such controls introduces risk: when sensitive data is stored in a service without adequate safeguards, exposure results. Data flow and exposure points are therefore identified based on the enterprise's ownership of the data.
